AspenBio Creates Scientific Advisory Board - Including Prominent PhD's and MD to Assist in Product Development

Castle Rock, CO, September 7, 2004 – AspenBio, Inc. (OTCBB: APNB) announced that it has established a world-renowned scientific advisory board and on August 26, 2004 held its inaugural meeting in Colorado. Advisory members were identified and selected based upon their expertise in the fields of animal reproduction, gonadotropin structure and function, human gastroenterology and diagnostic assay development. The talents, expertise and experience possessed by these individuals will be invaluable assisting in the growth and future focus of AspenBio.

Profiles of members of our Scientific Advisory Board are:

Irving Boime, Ph.D.

Dr. Boime is a professor in the Pharmacology and Obstetrics / Gynecology departments at the Washington University School of Medicine in St Louis, MO. Dr. Boime focuses on research and technologies dealing with structure-function problems of the gonadotropin hormones. Several of our new products in development are enhanced by technologies developed by his laboratory and are covered by numerous patents recently licensed to AspenBio for use in animal health, from Washington University.

Dr. Boime has authored over one hundred papers over his thirty plus year career and served on several review panels of the National Institutes of Health and a number of editorial board memberships, including the Journal of Biological Chemistry and the Biology of Reproduction. Dr. Boime has been honored over his career as a Fellow of the American Cancer Society and also received a Research Career Development Award from the U.S. Public Health Service.

William Thatcher, Ph.D.

Dr. Thatcher serves as Graduate Research Professor, Animal Sciences Department at the University of Florida. Dr. Thatcher’s knowledge and experience in the reproduction of cattle and dairy cows is among the very finest in the world. Furthermore, through his extensive research he is in a position to provide very practical information essential to the creation and development of products that can be successfully manufactured and sold to the end users.

Dr Thatcher has during his prolific career authored over 286 publications and in excess of 40 book chapters. He was recently appointed as President elect-2004/5, of the Society for the Study of Reproduction and is the newly elected President of the International Executive Committee (IEC) for the International Congress on Animal Reproduction.

John Bealer, M.D.  

Dr. Bealer is a successful and experienced surgeon, focusing on pediatric surgery at Rocky Mountain Pediatric Surgery, P.C. He brings a wealth of knowledge to the Company in human medical conditions, treatments and opportunities. His interest in all of the company’s technology has been important in providing AspenBio a broad medical perspective. Dr. Bealer has authored over 28 publications to date and also holds a Certificate of Special Competence in Pediatric Surgery.

Dr. Bealer is in the process of developing, in conjunction with and under an agreement entered into with AspenBio, a new technology designed to assist the medical community in the rapid diagnosis of appendicitis. AspenBio has filed a patent application on this technology.

Janet Roser, Ph.D.

Dr. Roser is a professor in the Department of Animal Science at the University of California, Davis. Dr. Roser is one of the pre-eminent PhD’s in the world, focused on reproduction and fertility in horses. Her work and experience will play a key role in the development of our equine products. We are pleased that she has agreed to join our board and provide us with her significant insights and expertise.

She is currently a member of the International Symposium on Equine Reproduction Committee, the Society for the Study of Reproduction, and the American Zoological Society. Dr. Roser has authored over 70 publications to date and several book chapters.

Kevin McSweeney, D.V.M.

Dr. McSweeney has over ten years of on-site dairy management encompassing all aspects of animal health, reproduction and milk production in cows. He is currently associated with Integrated Livestock Management in Colorado and previously was at Colorado State University in the Animal Reproduction and Biotechnology Laboratory, and the USDA’s Centers for Epidemiology and Animal Health Veterinary Services and served as past president of the American Association of Bovine Practitioners and was a past Geraldine Dodge Grant Recipient.

He has played an important role for AspenBio in the testing, development and refinement of bovine products as well as assisting in identifying new product opportunities. We are pleased that Dr. Mc Sweeney has agreed to work closely with us in the development of our products including now serving on the advisory board. His extensive hands-on experience on multiple dairies in various consulting and treatment capacities is extremely valuable to us.

Robert Hudak

Mr. Hudak is President and founder of Merlin Laboratories, a company specializing in diagnostic testing technologies and consulting. He was previously with ACON Laboratories, Inc., Quidel Corporation, Strategic Diagnostics, Inc., and Cryopharm Corp.

Robert Hudak has extensive expertise in the development of numerous rapid diagnostic tests. Mr. Hudak is currently under contract to the Company, actively working to resolve sensitivity issues with early detection (day 18-20) diagnostic dairy cow pregnancy test. His experience in the development of commercial diagnostics products will be extremely valuable to AspenBio. Mr. Hudak holds thirteen patents on products he has invented and he has authored over 25 publications.

Kathleen Palma, Ph.D.

Dr. Palma serves as Vice-President of Research and Development, Triad Specialty Products and Piedmont Pharmaceuticals. She formerly was associated with Blue Ridge Pharmaceuticals, the Department of Entomology - Texas A&M University and served as Lecturer, Department of Biology, Sam Houston State University - Huntsville, TX.

Dr. Palma has extensive hands on product development expertise in both human and animal products. In addition, she has expertise in making FDA applications for products and pushing them through the approval process. We are pleased with her joining the advisory board and providing her experience in these critical areas. Dr. Palma has authored over 15 publications to date and has extensive experience in working with growing companies in the animal health products area.
